Notes

'The Moor' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'The Moor') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in early to mid spring with large, single, dark red flowers and bright yellow stamens. Each stem usually carries just one flower. The dark green, leathery leaves are large and smooth.

Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Prairie dropseed, Black Hero tulip, and Hairy aster.
