'Thor' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Thor') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The extremely double maroon blooms open from mid to late spring into early summer, and the color holds and never blues. Good stems make it a fine pick for cutting, and Hans Peter Sass bred it.
Pairs well with Cheerfulness daffodil, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Spotted dead nettle.
