Notes

'Tompa' Norway spruce (Picea abies 'Tompa') is a shrub for borders, specimens, accents, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its conical shape stays compact, and it grows at a rapid rate. The evergreen needles keep color all year, and birds visit it. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Mugo pine, Berry Poppins winterberry, and Winter aconite.
