Notes

Mugo pine (Pinus mugo) is a tree for specimen plantings, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. This broad evergreen grows slowly and handles drought and salt. Birds also visit it.

Pairs well with Colorado blue spruce, Rock soapwort, Abbotswood shrubby cinquefoil, and Red fescue.
