Notes

'Tornado Red' cockscomb (Celosia argentea 'Tornado Red') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, containers, and pollinator gardens. It is not cold-hardy and will not survive freezing temperatures. This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It grows fast, stands erect, and reaches 12 to 24 inches tall, and butterflies and bees visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Once settled, it tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Ageratum, African marigold, Zinnia, and Black-eyed Susan.
