Notes

'Torpilleur' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Torpilleur') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its large, slightly fragrant flowers open in mid to late spring. Deep rose-red guard petals sit flat around a center of pink and yellow tipped staminodes. The center often feathers, and the foliage looks good all season.

Pairs well with Siberian squill, Cinnamon fern, and Spotted joe-pye weed.
