Notes

'Tragedy' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Tragedy') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double, globular blooms are dark glowing crimson with lighter streaks and flecks. It blooms from mid to late spring into early summer on tall, erect stems with good foliage. George Hollis bred it.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Dalmatian bellflower, and Picture tulip.
