Notes

'Tsuma-gaki' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'Tsuma-gaki') is a small tree for specimen, accent, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. It grows slowly to 5 to 10 feet tall and spreads in a broad shape. Dark red spring flowers attract bees and birds, and the leaves turn color in fall. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Daffodil.
