Notes

'Twombly's Red Sentinel' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'Twombly's Red Sentinel') is a small tree for specimen planting, containers, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Spring leaves emerge bright red, turn purple-red with green hints in summer, and finish brilliant red with orange in fall. Leaf color is best in partial shade. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Green Carpet Japanese pachysandra, Alpine hair grass, and Spring snowflake.
