Notes

'Umbraculifera' Japanese red pine (Pinus densiflora 'Umbraculifera') is an evergreen tree for specimen, accent, and foundation uses. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. It grows slowly into a multi-trunked tree that reaches 10 to 20 feet tall and up to 25 feet wide, so give it room. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It does not flower.

Pairs well with Autumn Gold maidenhair tree, Cat's Pajamas nepeta, and Ice Follies daffodil.
