Notes
'Alice Verkade' Japanese red pine (Pinus densiflora 'Alice Verkade') is an evergreen tree for specimen, accent, and foundation use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. It grows slowly into a multi-trunked shape that stays 24 to 36 inches tall and spreads 24 to 84 inches. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Give it room to spread.
Pairs well with Gro-Low fragrant sumac, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Blush peony.
