Notes

'Ute' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ute') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. William Henry Krekler bred it. The Japanese type flowers open early and last a long time. The creamy-tan centers show some wine-red later, and the neat, dense bush stays about 30 inches tall.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Sedge, and Scentara Double Blue lilac.
