Notes

'Valley Rose' Japanese pieris (Pieris japonica 'Valley Rose') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, foundation planting, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. The fragrant blooms open in winter and spring and draw bees and butterflies. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Acid soil suits it best.

Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Lady fern, and Bloodgood Japanese maple.
