Notes
'Prelude' Japanese pieris (Pieris japonica 'Prelude') is a shrub for borders, containers, foundation plantings, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Fragrant flowers appear in winter and spring and attract bees and butterflies. It forms a dense, slow-growing evergreen mound that stays 18 to 24 inches tall.
Pairs well with Mock orange, Pink Hawaiian Coral peony, and Saucer magnolia.
