Notes

'Velma M. Janus' peony (Paeonia 'Velma M. Janus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Julian L. Janus bred it, and the double, ball-shaped blooms are a massive phlox-pink with a rose fragrance. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Big Daddy hosta, Dittany, Nodding onion, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
