Notes
'Velvet Curtains' amaranth (Amaranthus cruentus 'Velvet Curtains') is an annual for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Dark crimson plumes rise on strong spikes from early summer to fall. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the flowers.
Pairs well with Button flower, Mammoth Grey Stripe sunflower, and Blue daisy.
