Notes

'Velvet Ruffles' peony (Paeonia 'Velvet Ruffles') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Rose-red blooms with cream shading open from early to late spring and attract butterflies. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with May Night salvia, September Charm anemone, and Niobe clematis.
