Notes
'Venise' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Venise') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears single, light amaranth pink flowers in early to mid spring. The yellow stamens and pink-tipped carpels add detail at the center. Auguste Dessert bred it in 1913, and the compact plant stays medium in size.
Pairs well with Empress Wu hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Christmas fern.
