Notes
'Veteran' peony (Paeonia 'Veteran') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It forms a big, dense, upright bush with fragrant, single, purple-red flowers that bees and butterflies visit. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. William Henry Krekler bred it.
Pairs well with Moonshine yarrow, Prairie dropseed, and Guacamole hosta.
