Notes

'Viola' clematis (Clematis 'Viola') is a vine for borders, cottage gardens, containers, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Uno Kivistik bred it from Lord Nevill, and its purple flowers with yellow stamens draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Give it a trellis or fence to climb.

Pairs well with Alina rose, Paris coral bells, and Sedge.
