Notes

'Violacea' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Violacea') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows tall and bears purple blooms that look lovely in a vase. Louis Claude Noisette bred it, so it has a long garden history. Plant it where its tall form can stand out in the back of a border.

Pairs well with Incrediball hydrangea, Minuteman hosta, Cinnamon fern, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
