Notes

'Violet Elizabeth' clematis (Clematis 'Violet Elizabeth') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Large, double mauve pink flowers open in May and June, and single flowers follow in summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Walter Pennell bred it.

Pairs well with Garden phlox, Green Spice coral bells, and Paperbark maple.
