Notes

'Violetta' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Violetta') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The violet blooms are single, which gives each flower a simple, open shape. You can cut the blooms for indoor vases. Auguste Dessert bred it in 1909.

Pairs well with Minuteman hosta, Blue fescue, Cinnamon fern, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
