Notes

'Volunteer' clematis (Clematis 'Volunteer') is a vine for containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Its pink blooms have deep pink stripes and a yellow center. Mogens Nyegaard Olesen bred it, and Poulsen Roser A/S introduced it in 2016. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Jeana garden phlox, Switchgrass, Green Spice coral bells, and Stargazer lily.
