Notes

Wand butterflybush (Buddleja fallowiana) is a shrub for borders, pollinator gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its arching stems carry fragrant blue, purple, or white flowers that draw butterflies and bees. The leaves are gray-silver to green, and the plant tolerates drought. It grows slowly, so give it room to spread.

Pairs well with Bishop of Llandaff dahlia, Star jasmine, and Calla lily.

Native range

Central Asia, Asia, and Qinghai.
