Notes

Water iris (Iris laevigata) is a clumping perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall and bears blue, purple, or white blooms in spring. Hummingbirds and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Candelabra primrose, Aurea tufted sedge, and Liberty hosta.
