Notes

'Whitewater' bear's breeches (Acanthus 'Whitewater') is a perennial for borders, specimen plantings, accents, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. White flowers with a violet-pink blush appear in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies visit the blooms, and the plant tolerates drought.

Pairs well with New England aster, Mondo grass, and Carolina jessamine.
