Notes

'R.P. Whitfield' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'R.P. Whitfield') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its large double blooms open late in spring in pale rose-pink with cream-white centers and a fair rose fragrance. The plant is tall with strong stems and dark, narrow foliage. Wet weather can leave the buds soggy, so plant it where air moves freely.

Pairs well with Annabelle hydrangea, Sedge, Rock soapwort, and Smooth aster.
