Notes

'Wicked Witch' carnation (Dianthus 'Wicked Witch') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows 3 to 9 inches tall and bears fragrant cherry red flowers in spring and again in summer. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Sedge, Nodding onion, Limeglow creeping juniper, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
