Notes

'William R. Smith' rose of sharon (Hibiscus syriacus 'William R. Smith') is a shrub for hedges and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds all visit it, and it tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Spicebush, Wild bergamot, and Serviceberry.
