Notes

'Wilmington' peony (Paeonia 'Wilmington') is a compact perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Wine red single cups have large petals and light golden stamens, and bees and butterflies visit the fragrant blooms. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Fire and Ice hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Picture tulip.
