Notes

'Wine Red' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Wine Red') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows about 24 inches tall and bears double red flowers in mid to late spring and early summer. Each stem carries one to three buds. Ben Gilbertson bred it, and its foliage is medium green.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
