Notes

'Yankee Doodle' lilac (Syringa vulgaris 'Yankee Doodle') is a shrub for borders, hedges, specimen planting, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Fragrant blooms open in early to late spring and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It also tolerates salt. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Limelight hydrangea, Jeana garden phlox, Obsidian coral bells, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
