Notes

'Yankee' peony (Paeonia 'Yankee') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows 35 inches tall with sturdy, upright stems, red fragrant blooms, and visits from bees and butterflies. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Wide Brim hosta, Polish Spirit clematis, and Western sword fern.
