'Zi-Die-Ying-Feng' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Zi-Die-Ying-Feng') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It has a spreading habit with many branches and a few suckers. The single violet red flowers are round peach in bud and open to 7.2 inches across. Strong stems hold the lightly fragrant blooms above the leaves.
Pairs well with Weigela, Stargazer lily, Wild ginger, and Blue grama.
