Notes
'Zi He' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Zi He') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The purplish-red single flowers measure 4½ inches across and bloom at midseason. Their split guard petals give them a lotus-like look. Upright, purplish red stems reach about 33 inches tall.
Pairs well with Pearly everlasting, Ostrich fern, and Blue sage.
