Notes

'Appalachian Red' Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis 'Appalachian Red') is a tree for specimen planting, borders, woodland edges, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It sits low on the menu for deer. It grows with several stems at a moderate pace and reaches 15 to 25 feet tall and wide. Fuchsia pink to red flowers open from early to late spring and attract butterflies and bees.

Pairs well with Witch hazel, Switchgrass, Cinnamon fern, and Lanceleaf coreopsis.
