Notes
'Akatsuki' Chinese dogwood (Cornus kousa 'Akatsuki') is a tree for specimen planting, spring flowers, and fall color. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Pink flowers with white edges open in late spring above white-variegated leaves. The leaves turn burgundy in autumn, and red fruits follow for the birds. It is a sport of 'Satomi'.
Pairs well with Autumn fern, Lily, and Cotoneaster.
