Notes
'Allegro' oriental poppy (Papaver orientale 'Allegro') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and cut flower beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. It forms a clump 12 to 18 inches tall and wide, with orange-red blooms in spring and summer. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.
Pairs well with Blanket flower, Blue grama, and Paprika yarrow.
