Notes

'Queen Alexandra' oriental poppy (Papaver orientale 'Queen Alexandra') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It blooms in late spring to early summer and attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. The plant goes semi-dormant after flowering, so pair it with Agastache, Rudbeckia, and Geranium. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Brookside crane's-bill, Iris, and Lady's mantle.
