Notes
'Allen' mugo pine (Pinus mugo 'Allen') is a slow-growing evergreen tree for rock gardens, containers, borders, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It tolerates drought and salt, and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer. Its broad habit stays small at 24 to 36 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide.
Pairs well with Limeglow creeping juniper, Blonde Ambition blue grama, Ice Follies daffodil, and Berry Poppins winterberry.
