Notes
'Aurea' mugo pine (Pinus mugo 'Aurea') is a shrub for borders, rock gardens, containers, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly and stays low and broad, at 24 to 36 inches tall. It is evergreen, so it adds winter interest. Deer tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with Candy Stripe moss phlox, Globosa Colorado spruce, and Red fescue.
