Notes

'Big Tuna' mugo pine (Pinus mugo 'Big Tuna') is a shrub for borders, containers, rock gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows slowly into a broad evergreen shape. Birds visit it, and it tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Rock soapwort, Red Wings moss phlox, Shrubby cinquefoil, and Red fescue.
