Notes
'Amabilis-plena' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Amabilis-plena') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its flowers are double, so each bloom is full of petals. Seneclauze bred it in 1846. You can cut the blooms to bring indoors, or leave them on the shrub to brighten the border.
Pairs well with Damask rose, Sweet woodruff, Greig's tulip, and Prairie dropseed.
