Notes
American germander (Teucrium canadense) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Dense spikes of lavender-pink flowers sit on downy square stems and make a nice cut flower. It spreads by rhizomes and can become aggressive, so check it back every so often.
Pairs well with Brown-eyed Susan, Royal fern, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
