Notes
Amethyst meadow squill (Scilla litardierei) is a bulb for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Airy spikes of small blue star-shaped flowers open in late spring and carry the show into early summer. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It will bulk up and naturalize given time.
Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Spiderwort, and Tree peony.
