Notes
'Amethyst' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Amethyst') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The purple blooms carry dark flares that give each flower a rich, layered look. Cut the stems for bouquets and enjoy the color indoors. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.
Pairs well with Golden Tiara hosta, Christmas fern, Black Parrot tulip, and Incrediball hydrangea.
