Notes

'Aphrodite' Japanese witch hazel (Hamamelis intermedia 'Aphrodite') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant burnt-orange flowers with reddish-purple calyxes open in winter and early spring. Deer tend to pass it by. The leaves also turn color in fall.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Common snowdrop, and Springwood White tree heath.
