Notes

'Rubin' Japanese witch hazel (Hamamelis intermedia 'Rubin') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant red petals open in early winter and can last into early spring. The leaves turn color in fall. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Bloodgood Japanese maple, Ostrich fern, and Greig's tulip.
