Notes

'Barmstedt Gold' Japanese witch hazel (Hamamelis intermedia 'Barmstedt Gold') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The fragrant yellow flowers have a reddish calyx. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The leaves also add fall color.

Pairs well with Blue Chiffon rose of sharon, September Charm anemone, and Grape hyacinth.
